Run the server with Docker on a NAS, a Mac mini or that PC under the desk. It reads your movie folders read-only and makes them look gorgeous.

Invite your people
Send an invite link. They install the app, join your circle and start downloading, no accounts on some stranger's cloud needed.

Pick a movie, everyone taps Ready, the lights dim, 3, 2, 1. Laugh at the same jokes at the same second, from anywhere.

Your media never leaves your server.
Moovo is self-hosted software. We don't host, index or even see anyone's movies. The only thing this website knows is your email if you make an account.
Your server, your files
Movies live on your own hardware and stream or download straight from it to your people. They never pass through us.
No tracking, no ads
The apps don't phone home about what you watch. There's nothing to sell, so we don't collect it.
Works without us
Your server never needs our website to run. Licenses are verified offline by the apps.

Before the lights go down
Is it really self-hosted?
Yes. One person (the host) runs the Moovo server on their own computer or NAS with Docker. Everyone else uses the app to connect to that server. There's no central streaming service in the middle.
Do my movies ever touch your servers?
Never. Files go straight from the host's server to the people they invited. This website only handles downloads of the app itself, optional accounts, and donations.
Does it work offline?
That's the whole idea. Download a movie or a whole season, then watch it with no connection. Watch Together needs only a trickle of data to keep everyone in sync, because nobody is streaming video.
What about privacy?
The apps don't track what you watch and there are no ads. Your server keeps its own data. If you create an account here (only needed to become a Supporter), we store your email and what you've unlocked. That's it.
What do I need to host?
Your own movie and TV files, a computer that stays on (a NAS, Mac mini, old PC or Linux box) and Docker. The guide walks you through it, including remote access with port forwarding or a tunnel.
Where do the movies come from?
From your own library. Moovo doesn't provide, sell or link to any content. It makes the files you already own look great and lets you share them with your people.
Which devices are supported?
The app runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer, macOS 12 or later) today. Phones and tablets come next, then the TV. The server runs anywhere Docker does.
Is it free?
Yes, with no limits: it's your server, so you decide how many people and titles. Every feature is free. Supporter plans (coming soon) fund the updates and add a few fun extras, and you can leave a tip any time.
The snacks are on us. The projector bill isn't.
